The Brother Group set the target of reducing CO2 emissions in Japan by 30% (absolute value) from FY1990 levels, and reducing CO2 emissions outside Japan by 20% (per unit of sales) from FY2006 levels, by FY2020, and has been conducting activities worldwide.
Zero Waste Emission Activities
To help use resources effectively and prevent resource depletion, the Brother Group ensures that 5R activities are carried out to curb waste generation, reduce emissions, and promote zero landfill waste.
Activities to Reduce Water Consumption
The Brother Group has been working to reduce water consumption to fulfill its responsibilities as an operator of manufacturing facilities in Asia by setting specific targets for reducing water consumption in the Mid-term Environmental Action Plan.
Preventing Pollution
The Brother Group sets voluntary management standards in compliance with laws and regulations in respective regions, and endeavors to prevent pollution based on the framework of ISO 14001 certification obtained by respective facilities.
Environmental Accounting
The Brother Group monitors investments and expenses related to environmental activities, quantitatively assesses their environmental conservation and economic effects, and reflects the results in environmental activities to be carried out in the next fiscal year.
List of ISO 14001-certified Facilities and History of Auditing for ISO 14064
The Brother Group acquires ISO 14001 certification (an international standard for environmental management systems) and conducts environmental conservation activities in line with the requirements of respective facilities. The Brother Group has also been subject to audit based on ISO 14064.
Material Balance
The Brother Group quantitatively monitors the overall environmental impacts of all its operations (e.g., consumption of resources, CO2 emissions, generation of waste), and utilizes the data to reduce environmental impacts.
