Brother Industries, Ltd. (President: Ichiro Sasaki) today announced that it will donate an additional 35 million JPY to UNHCR, the UN refugee agency via Japan for UNHCR, a national partner of UNHCR in Japan, as humanitarian aid for the Ukraine crisis and for the victims affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake.
This donation will be given through UNHCR to support local relief efforts.
In March 2022, Brother donated 500,000 EUR as Brother Group to UNHCR via Japan for UNHCR to support humanitarian aid in Ukraine. In February 2023, Brother also donated 50,000 USD to Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to support the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake, as well as to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Turkey through the Group's local branch in Turkey.
The decision to make this additional donation has been made in response to the prolonged crisis in Ukraine and the large number of victims and extensive damage caused by the Turkey-Syria earthquake. The additional 35 million JPY will be donated in full to UNHCR with 20 million JPY as humanitarian aid for the Ukraine crisis and 15 million JPY as disaster relief for the victims affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake.
Brother is extremely saddened that so many innocent lives are being negatively impacted by the crisis in Ukraine. We sincerely hope that everyone impacted finds safety and security and our thoughts remain with all those affected in Ukraine and surrounding areas.
Brother also expresses our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake and hopes for an early recovery.
