August 1, 2025
Brother Industries, Ltd.
Brother Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Nagoya; President: Kazufumi Ikeda) has been recognized for the first time with the highest rating as a Supplier Engagement Leader in the CDP 2024 Supplier Engagement Rating by CDP, an international NGO that conducts environmental surveys and disclosures.
The Supplier Engagement Rating evaluates companies worldwide that respond to CDP's climate change questionnaire in five key areas: supplier engagement, Scope 3 emissions*1, risk management processes, governance and business strategy, and targets. In 2024, approximately the top 6% of more than 22,700 responding companies were recognized as Supplier Engagement Leaders.
The Brother Group promotes CSR procurement globally and identifies the "pursuing a responsible value chain" and "reducing CO2 emissions" as its materialities (priority social issues). It publishes its procurement policies and CSR procurement standards, and shares its thinking on environmental policies and criteria with suppliers. The Group has also established a framework to monitor and improve compliance with these standards, and promotes environmentally conscious procurement practices throughout the entire supply chain. We consider that our ongoing efforts, including those involving the supply chain, have contributed to this recognition.
Under the Brother Group Environmental Vision 2050, the company is working toward carbon neutrality*2 in all business operations and minimizing CO2 emissions from the entire value chain by 2050. As a medium-term target, Brother aims to reduce Scope 3 (Categories 1, 11, and 12*3) CO2 emissions by 28.5% by FY2030, compared to FY2022 levels.
Going forward, we will continue to actively engage in environmentally conscious initiatives.
- "Scope 3" refers to all indirect emissions produced by third parties for the purpose of a company's activities
- Achieve overall zero CO2 emissions from the Brother Group
- CO2 emissions produced when using purchased products and services, when using sold products, and when disposing of sold products
